Sewing Machine for Beginners - Live workshop
This live workshop will give you confidence to sew simple projects. I'll show you all the basics including threading up, what all the dials do, what else you may need, and how to make a simple cushion cover. Group size will be small so you can ask real time questions and we work together.

About the event
This workshop is perfect if you've recently purchased a sewing machine and you'd like to learn the basics. Or perhaps you've not sewn for a long time and you'd like a refresher.
My aim in this workshop is to give you confidence to tackle simple sewing projects. You'll learn all the basics including threading up, what all the dials do, what else you may need, and how to make a simple cushion cover. Please don't worry if you've never sewn before - we'll take it nice and steady :)
Group size will be small so you can ask real time questions and we can work together.
Supplies:
- A sewing machine
- Fabric cut to 43cm x 102cm (preferably light to medium weight cotton)
- Scrap fabric for practising
- Thread
- Pins
- Fabric scissors
- Tape measure
You will learn:
The basic functions of the sewing machine
What all the dials do
Threading-up
Winding a bobbin
Pinning and sewing a seam + hem
Reversing
Turning curves and corners
How to make a cushion cover
...And the opportunity to ask questions at long the way
Your online workshop will take place live via Zoom. We’d recommend using a laptop or desktop if possible to make it easier for you to take part.
